Why I Keep Showing Up
It is easy to get discouraged. It is easy to quit. It is easy to give up. It is easy to quit showing up. The old adage goes: “If it was easy anybody could do it” and indeed they do, many, perhaps most. Yet like the Marine Corps our Higher Power, our loving and infinite source is always looking for a a few good men and women to take on special assignments, to show up, to stick it out, to get the job done and with Isaiah to answer the call and say, “Here am I Lord.”
The easy road is boring. We need challenges to make life worth waking up for, worth showing up for, or in the words of the second phrase of the Serenity Prayer worth choosing to exercise “Courage to change the things I can.” And instead of always asking “Why?” Asking “Why Not?” and seizing every opportunity to be the difference we hope to see.
