Sing A Song
I am amazed at how “the for profit motive” seems to taint in the extreme the natural desire that I believe is in all of us to share the best secrets of life that we have learned along our journey. This daily blog is free to anyone who wants to read it and there is no catch, no bonus offers, and no credit card number required. There is no need to even click like or to comment though I do read any comments that I receive and periodically check to see how many views and what particular blogs are being read.
Having written all that, the encouraging word I would like to share with you today free of charge is basically the song attached at the end of this short piece. It is one of the best secrets that I have learned along the way. It will not help you to lose weight if that is your goal nor help you keep the weight off. Sadly the lovely and oh so talented Karen Carpenter with such a lovely voice had an eating disorder that shortened her life. Still in her relatively short time with us, she and her brother Richard gave us a number of wonderful songs to listen to and to sing.
Some encouraging people say things like, “Laugher is the best medicine”, “Smile though your heart is breaking”, “Put on a happy face”, trying to share secrets they have learned in life. And all those things are good advice and lessons learned. A dear friend of mine shared on Facebook recently that she believes that singing everyday helps the heart. Last Saturday visiting with my son and my twenty month old granddaughter, I was talking with my son Jay after he put Emma down for a nap. He had the baby monitor in the living room so he could keep an ear out for the baby. At first she fused a bit fighting sleep as children do fearing they might miss something, but then she started to sing to herself. My darling granddaughter already wise for her age sang herself to sleep.
I hope to introduce her to today’s song someday. I think she would like it as she already knows its lesson – that life is better if we just, “Sing A Song.”
