This Much is True

When I began this daily blog ten years ago last month a big reason that I did was to try to build a platform (a following of at least ten thousand subscribers) so that I could convince a publisher to publish a book that I had written about my dearly departed daughter called Emily – The Little Girl Who Sang Her Song To Anyone Who Came Along. I had been told that publishing required a marketing plan with a potential market of at least ten thousand potential sales before considering publishing any book. Even after ten years of posting I have less than four hundred subscribers and the most views that I have ever had in a single day is less than three hundred and most days my blog gets less than a hundred views.

Still, rather than being discouraged I am encouraged that I am read all around are the world. I no longer am concerned about publish Emily’s book instead I have posted it, all thirty two chapters or episodes, on this blog. Posting one chapter daily took a day or two more than a month to post and I have done so twice. In fact if someone searches http://www.theencouragingword.co

They will find my blog with over 3400 postings. The Feature Article, the first one at the top, is called My First Walk With Emily, and is the first chapter or episode in her book. If anyone would like to read the rest the book they need only scroll down to the date showing on My First Walk with Emily to read all the chapters.

I hope as anyone is scrolling down that other blog titles and pictures quotes might catch their eye and stir some interest as well. As most of my blogs are opinion pieces some may express opinions that differ from yours but bear with me for I am sure that in 3444 blogs you will find more that a few points of agreement and many encouraging words.

No doubt I have repeated certain favorite themes often. Today’s theme is one of them. In Emily’s thirty-two year adventure in time and space she lived a pretty full life. I am especially glad and grateful that during the last six months of her life and before she got sick that she found the love of her life, her sax man, Toby Harris. There are a couple of their group’s performances on YouTube. The name of their group is Dancing With Spock and the two original songs recorded are True and My Boyfriend Drives A Spaceship. Both songs Emily wrote about her Toby. A link to True is below. I would love for everyone to get to hear my little girl sing her song.

Your friend and fellow traveler,
