For Evermore

There is something in us that causes us to believe in happily ever after, that there is ever more, that “Out there beyond the horizon, there’s more, there’s more.” That last quotation is from another of my favorite songs, The Love Of God, sung by George Beverly Shea.

It is the love of God that is the promise of eternal life. I watched an episode of the CBS television series Tracker yesterday that was about a bad guy in New Orleans who was willing to sell his soul to the devil and commit several ritual murders in order to live forever. The formula that he attempted to followed was a lie, as are so many of the promises that are made by people seeking our money or power over us.

The Jesus (Savior) of the New Testament said, “I am come that you might have life and that you might have it more abundantly.” That is quite a promise and for those of us who are ever seeking more (get it – Ever More) it is the promise land, home, and heaven all rolled into one.

Last week, my son Jay and I secured another 15.5 acres of property one mile south of Bon Wier, Texas where we are working together on a dream, his dream, my dream, that I lovingly refer to as Jay’s Hundred Acres Wood. Sixty acres are presently in Jay’s name and now thirty-one and a half are in mine. That leaves only 8.5 more acres to acquire to make a hundred. It will all be his, I only hope to get to live on it for many years to come and to help my son to develop and to maintain it. Jay is mine and my wife’s dream come true and we have hoped all his life to help make all his dreams come true, and for evermore.

Your friend and fellow traveler through space and time,
