Why Do We Fall?

One of the trickiest things to maintain in life is balance. Yet, this is absolutely required to walk straight, to ride a bike or motorcycle, to maintain any relationship (family, friend, lover or business.) It is so easy to get things out of balance to where even the slightest misstep causes us to fall.

That is very true and still often we fall when we otherwise might not have had we only maintained our balance. The way a woman walks in high heels is an example not only of something most men finds quite entertaining and sexy, but an example of great balance. I have heard women complain about wearing high heels, but one woman, a quite a woman, had a different take on high heels and the balance required to wear them to great effect.

Marilyn knew that wearing high heels accentuated her signature feature and no it was not her beautiful face, bust, or legs. Need a clue? It was her bottom-line. To quote a line from The Big Bopper song Chantilly Lace:

The song may be mostly about a big-eyed girl, but the reference to the wiggle in the walk is unmistakable and also brings to mind another line more than one guy has used: “I hate to see you go, but I love to watch you leave.”

What was I talking about? Oh, yeah balance. A woman walking in high heels is not only a beauty to behold, but a great feat of balance. Wearing cowboy boots is as near as I have come to attempting that kind of balance. And I suppose women many of whom also appreciate the sight of an attractive male posterior walking away in cowboy boots might also owe a debt to the inventor of high heels for men, cowboy boots. They do tend to give cowboys a certain swagger that appeals to many cowgirls.

Why do we fall? Maybe it’s the shoes, the high heels, the cowboy boots. Whatever the reason the important thing to remember is what Ole Blue Eyes sang: “When I find myself flat on my face, I pick myself up and get back in the race. That’s life.”
