Do It Anyway

Every swing is not a hit let alone a home run. Every karaoke song attempt is not a success. Every date is not the first date long remembered and revered. Every kiss is not the kiss by which all other kisses are measured. Not every dance inspires a great love song nor is it the prelude to passionate intimacy. Still baseball players, singers, kissers, and dancers all know that not only is it important to give every attempt your best effort, but that no matter what it is paramount to keep on swinging, to just do it anyway.

After thirty-four hundred and thirteen blogs over a period of almost ten years I have no illusions about my batting average. Not to strain the baseball metaphor too much, but when you swing for the cheap seat every time you are going to miss a lot more swings than you connect. And even if you try to maintain a more measured and controlled approach of trying to just get on base every time at bat, you are still going to swing and miss a lot.

When the final stats are compiled more that the total number of hits or home runs will be noted. How many at bats will be also noted. My goal is to write ten thousand blogs, for I read some years ago that if you really want to be good at anything, do it ten thousand times.

Keep swinging, just do it anyway, all you baseball and other enterprise fans.
