Somebody’s Knocking At The Door

Yesterday, there was a rare knock at our front door. I made in there just in time to see from our bay window several Girl Scouts walking away from the house. Just as well, we did not need fifty dollars worth of cookies, that is probably only five boxes with the high price of cookies these days. Does no one else think it inappropriate to teach young girls to sell their cookies door to door? I kid, but really, I strikes me as at least a bit ironic.

I got the inspiration for today’s piece from a ROKU advertisement for door bell cameras. I think they are one of the cooler inventions of late. They are an updated version of the old door buzzer intercom system of checking who is at the door before you decide to let them in, only now with video. My sister-in-law and my son and his wife have them along with many others I am sure. They are better that the old door bells that you were never quite sure if they worked so you knocked anyway.. I, of course, ordered one and it should be here between 5 pm and 10 pm today.

I can hardly wait to see who’s knocking (or ringing) at the door and to decide whether or not to let them in.

David White
