Come Fly With Me

As a boy I was fascinated with Walt Disney’s animated Peter Pan, the boy who aided by the pixie, Tinker Bell, could fly. Above is a picture of my lovely and loving wife Linda Lee years ago dressed for work. It was the annual Halloween costume competition at the bank where she worked. Those legs certainly should have won the prize. A bit of pixie dust and she flies.

Also as a boy I had a recurring nighttime dream of flying. Recently I rewatched a movie from years gone by called The Boy Who Could Fly. It was, to re-use a word, fascinating.

One of my very favorite church song has always been I’ll Fly Away. The following are some of the lyrics:

“Some glad morning when the life is o’r

I’ll fly away

To a land on God’s celestial shore

I’ll fly away.

I’ll fly away, oh glory

I’ll fly away, hallelujah.

When I die hallelujah by and by

I’ll fly away.”

As I have said, I believe heaven is in our hearts, right now. Jesus said as much, “The kingdom of heaven is within you.” We like Clarence in It’s A Wonderful Life are just angels waiting on our wings.
