Dance With The Devil
First let me say that I do not believe in an all power Devil, but I do believe in a very weak and puny one called ego that man invented because he could choose to refuse to listen to the God who is all in all. It is this little devil that is always wanting us to dance with him or her.
When people over the years have asked me why I do not drink I tell them it is because of a mis-spent youth. You see I spent my pre-teen and teenage years in a very narrow fundamentalist Christian cult that did not believe in drinking, smoking, dancing or going to the movies. They did not think of themselves as a cult, few religious groups do, but the founder of the movement called the Church of God (Anderson, Indiana) Daniel Sidney Warner, though not as famous as Joseph Smith of the Latter Day Saints, or Jim Jones of the People’s Temple was just as misguided and as certainly a cult leader.
But enough about cults, The important thing to know about cults is to get out of them as soon as you realize you are in one and to do your best to steer clear of all their craziness and silly restrictions. They impose them to keep you separated from normal people and all quote the same tired scripture to control you: “Come out from them and be ye separate, says the Lord.”
The sweet spirit of freedom and liberty says, “Come dance with me, come ride with me, come fly with me. Come.” Puny ego too asks you to dance with him or her, but there is no freedom or liberty if you tango with that rascal.
Due to this past Tuesday’s rare snow in Houston and almost as rare several mornings with below freezing temperatures, I have not been riding my bike. This morning the temperature was 43 degrees F so I bundled up and went for a ride. My plan was to make it to a dance studio near downtown Houston where they have a sign that is visible from the White Oak hiking and bike trail that reads Come Dance With Me. Today the “Come” part of the sign was out as you can see in the above picture.
I stopped to take another picture before I got to the dance studio. See the big “smiley moon.” It always reminds me that God is smiling down on me and you. I think any parent worth his or her salt is most happy when their children are happy.

One of the lesser talked about stories of David in the Old Testament of the Bible is how once (probably many other times too) when he was very happy that he danced before the LORD.
Care to dance? Be sure you pick the right partner.
