Corrections

In the course of writing these three thousand, three hundred, and sixty-one daily blogs, rest assured that I have made countless errors in grammar, spelling, and syntax, not to mention just getting the facts wrong from time to time. When I catch them or they are called to my attention, I make every effort to update that particular blog with corrections.

I believe it is the duty of not just authors, but each and all of us to try to correct our mistakes when we become aware of them. I marvel that no matter how many times I read over what I have written that I still find something to correct or to improve.

It is said of detailed people like engineers that the only way to get them to stop making corrections and changes to their drawings or plans is to take them from them and put them into production. And I suppose that is a big problem with “perfectionists” of all stripes, that their desire to have something “perfect” prevents them from doing, saying, presenting, or producing anything.

The fact that none of my blogs is perfect nor probably ever will be does not keep me from continuing to write and to put it out there. I have shared before and probably will again that there was an older man who lived across the street from the little church that I attended as a boy. Occasionally he would sing a solo before the Sunday morning service. Most often it was the same song, the words to which meant a great deal to him. I remember them well: “If I can help somebody along life’s way, then my living shall not be in vain.”

That is my hope as well, that my daily effort to find, develop, and publish the encouraging word will be of help to somebody. Comments, criticisms, and corrections are always welcome as they encourage me to stay at it by reminding me that I am being read.

Your friend and fellow traveler,

David White
