A Wordy Guy

I am the kind of guy for whom letters were an excuse for short stories and short stories were an excuse for novels. Therefore you can imagine that my emails all look more like memos and my texts like letters. Brevity has never been my strong suit nor was it my dad’s whose nickname among his many friend was “Windy.” I can be a bit windy too or verbose which the dictionary describes as:

Windy is a good synonym for wordy or verbose.

In the early to mid-nineteen seventies, I attended Gulf Coast Bible College in Houston, Texas and at that time I drew several cartoons for the school newspaper. I believe it was called The Clarion. Each year in the spring the college hosted a Minister Refresher Institute for pastors and evangelistic in The Church of God (Anderson, Indiana) fellowship. My cartoon for the paper that came out before one of the week long seminars that featured the best and most well-renowned preachers in the fellowship was a picture of a sign bending in the breeze that read: “Big Wind Comes To Houston.”

Preachers have a reputation for being wordy/windy as do politicians, salesmen, and lawyers. Blogger do too and I am one.

Your friend and fellow traveler,

David White
