Possibilities and Probabilities

Today’s picture quote is one of my favorites. Of the two schools of thought conservatism versus progressivism I prefer the later. I just seems to me that maintaining the status quote or forever looking back on the “good ole days” is just not good enough. The old adage goes, “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it” but I prefer something like, “Even if it ain’t broke it may be possible to make it better.”

Just why is it that we resist change so much? Many of us like the pessimist who penned the book of Ecclesiastes might be inclined to conclude that “there is nothing new under the sun” yet that just is not so. This life is ever full of possibilities and probabilities, or as Robert F. Kennedy, Senior put it above:

“There are those who look at things the way they are, and as why…

I dream dreams that never were, and ask why not?” -RFK

And I say, Amen.
