Legacy of Love

Today’s Note from the Universe got me thinking about our true Legacy of Love. Read it substituting your name for David and see what you think.

A very popular love song some years ago was called Lookin’ For Love. The chorus to the song goes:

The song begins with the words, “Well, I spent a lifetime looking for you…” Perhaps the reason we have trouble finding love or thinking that we have found it in someone else are disappointed over and over again is that we are looking for love in all the wrong places and faces. The loving and infinite source for all of us is our higher and best self, call that God, the Universe, or as the burning bush replied simply to Moses when he asked God’s name – “I am.”

Jesus, purported by many to be the best picture of God, in the early verses of The Book of the Revelation says, “Behold I stand at the door and knock, if anyone hear my voice and opens the door I will come in and dine with them.” Talk about your love feast.

Our legacy of love is that no one knows us better than ourself and no one can love us better that ourself. It is only by hearing that voice, by opening that door, and by dining with the one that loves us best that we can find the strength and the passion to love others.

You and I are love personified. Did you hear that knock?

Your friend and fellow traveler,

David White
