Dreaming the Dream

If you, Dear Reader, have read more than a few of the over thirty-three hundred blogs that I have posted at http://www.theencouragingword.co over the last almost ten years you will realized that certain recurring themes seem to dominate my thought processes. Today’s blog is one of them.

When I am posed the question, “How are you doing?” my go-to answer is usually “Fine and dandy” But some years ago on a work assignment just outside Detroit, Michigan I met a young man who had an even better brighter response to the How Are You question. He would reply with his biggest and brightest smile, “Living the Dream.”

I am continually amazed at the wisdom of many children’s songs. One of my favorites is the round “Row, Row, Row Your Boat.” The ending line contains the answer to the question, “What is life?” And, no, it is not a magazine, that costs to much with the grabber “That’s life.” Life according to the song is, “But a dream.”

We are all living the dream. That is what we came to this time/space construct (sort of like the Star Trek Next Generation Hollodeck) to do – to live out our dreams. For some of us this dream seems to be more like a nightmare. Yet that is only because we have gotten caught up in the illusion and forgotten who is running the program. It is up to us to make our highest and best dreams come true and not to blame the suppose glitches on the machinery, circumstances, or other players in our play. We are the author of all we survey the master of our fate as it were.

I have but one thing left to say today on this subject and that is, “Sweet Dreams, Baby.”

Your friend and fellow traveler,

David White
