Thank You For The Gift
Yesterday, there was a big box placed on our front porch. At first, I thought, “I did not order anything that is due to be delivered today.” But, then I remembered my dear friend, Deb, in Wisconsin had told me to watch for a package last Saturday. Things, letters and packages, always take a little longer coming from and going to Wisconsin.
Deb is one of those people who has really learned the less of the old adage, “It is better to give than to receive.” Me, with my slightly skewed view, I think it is because whether we know it or not we all are in relationship. Einstein said time is relative, but I think that we are all related too. Deprive a brother or sister and you deprive yourself, give to them and you are really giving to yourself. People soliciting money for charity used to say, “Give till it hurts” but a better thing to say would be, “Give till it feels good.”
Like the old story about the prophet who cast his bread upon the water that which we truly give always comes back to us. That is especially true of love. Like today’s love song says, “You gave your love away, thank for the gift.”
Your friend and fellow traveler,
David White
