Milestones and Measurements

The old adage goes if you want anything to improve just measure it and if you want to see how how much progress you have made toward any goal, measure that too. We do that by way of milestones which comes from the old tradition of marking how many miles to or from a certain place on stones beside the road.

Today by my calculations I will complete my three thousand and three hundredth blog. That means sometime next month that I will be one third of the way toward my goal of ten thousand blogs. At one a day, three hundred and sixty five a year, it will take me approximately twenty more years. I began this daily blog in March of 2015 at the ripe young age of sixty-four and in one week and a day I will turn seventy-four. If my numbers are correct that will put me at pushing ninety-four when I reach my ten thousand blogs goal. Will I make it? Will I run out of encouraging words to write? My bet is likely to the first one and unlikely to the second.
