It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas

Even in hot Houston, Texas the temperature as I write this is a cool 58 degrees F. But don’t you worry the forecast is for a high of 84 so that long sleeve shirt or jacket will be pulled off and exchanged for a tee shirt soon enough.

Much as I miss the cold and the snow that I was privileged to experience during my work assignments in the north country my favorite weather is what I call jacket weather and 50 to 60 degrees is perfect weather in my book. My eight week work assignments to Aberdeen, Scotland and Kenai, Alaska both in June and July, their warmest time of the year, made me think both would be ideal places to live.

People are always singing about a White Christmas and as much as I love snow, in all my years of living in South East Texas I am happy just to have jacket weather in December. To quote Elvis Presley, “Why can’t every day be like Christmas?”

As I road my bike a little later than usual this morning I got to experience the fading darkness and coming dawn. Several houses in my neighborhood already have their Christmas lights up and on. It is indeed beginning to look a lot like Christmas, every where you go.

Your friend and fellow traveler,

David White

P.S. We kept our Christmas Tree up all year and turned the lights on every morning. Elvis would feel right a home. Merry Christmas to one and all.
