An Opportunity To Learn Some
If your candidate won, congratulations, if not the old adage many would use is: Win some, lose some” but I prefer “Win some, learn some” for those are our only two viable alternatives. Yes, and I know there are at least two others – deny the loss, or gripe and complain that you were cheated, yet these two are not really viable. That leaves those of us whose candidate did not win having to learn some.
One of the greatest lessons of all is love and in a hard fought election campaign harsh words are often said back and fort, still always after the people have decided it is time to heal the wounds and work together for that “more perfect union” that the framers of the U.S. Constitution envisioned.
Where we go from here will depend upon how well we learn the lesson. If after congratulating the winners and attempting to work with them we are still unhappy with the results we can always try again next time as the disappointed sports fan unhappy with final score says, “We’ll get ‘em next time.”
Smile, politics like so much of life is just a game – Win some, learn some.
