Frank Schaeffer

In the nineteen-seventies I attended a very conservative church within the fundamentalist evangelical church group that I grew up in. We were encouraged to participate in politics and get behind the ideas espoused by religious leaders like Francis Schaeffer (Frank’s father, Presbyterian pastor, theologian, and author of Whatever Happened to the Human Race?), Jack Hyles (Independent Baptist Pastor famous for his large bus ministry) and Jerry Falwell (Independent Baptist Pastor, founder of Liberty University and co-founder of the Moral Majority.) These folks helped elect Ronald Reagan President and eventually get enough ultra conservative justices appointed to the United States Supreme Court to reverse Rove v. Wade and have outlined their plans for the next Trump administration in the manifesto called Project 2025.

As a young man Frank Schaeffer worked with his father and C. Everett Koop (who would become Ronald Reagan’s Surgeon General) to promote the religious conservative ideology espoused by the Moral Majority and very conservative groups in Protestantism and Roman Catholicism. Frank parted ways with those teachings in the nineteen-eighties and nineties and has since tried to undo the work he helped his father to foster.

I happened upon one of his It Has To Be Said pod casts a couple of days ago and have since watched several more. I think what Frank Schaeffer has to say needs to be heard. You can find him on YouTube. Attached below is a link to one of his pod casts.
