Early To Bed, Early To Rise

Children, young people, and more than a few adults and older people have a real problem following the above advice. Anecdotally perhaps that explains why there are so few that are truly healthy, wealthy, and wise. As a part of my daily intention process, in my daily mantra, I recite aloud the following phrase, “I am heathy, I am happy, I am whole.” I think the word whole as used in the phrase is a synonym for rich. Gamblers always talk about the big score that will make them “whole.”

The easiest way to developing the habit of going to bed early and rising early is to just start getting up early and the going to bed early part will naturally follow. It will amaze you all that you can accomplish before the sun comes up, all those little things you never seem to find the time to do. You will be inspired to do things that you never dreamed you would be able to do. Many people discover that they do their best thinking in the wee small hours of the morning.

Not a morning person? How do you know? As young people many of us develop the habit of staying up late and sleeping late and therefore are almost always sleep deprived. It is hard to be your best, do your best, and to even think straight when you are always tired. Likewise it is hard to go to sleep at eight pm if you are not tired. I recall a little bedtime poem for children: “Wee Willy Winkee runs through the town, upstairs, downstairs, in his night gown, crying through the windows, crying at the locks, “Are the children in their beds, for it’s now 8 o’clock.” Want to feel sleeping at 8pm? Get up early.

Have a good day, Sleepy heads!
