Ownership

Today’s encouraging word is Ownership defined as:

I recently shared some thoughts on The American Dream which is more aptly applied worldwide, the dream of owning a piece of property on which to build a home and raise a family. For many this dream extents to owning a farm or a business as well. It is in this sense that we most often use the word ownership, yet there is another sense that the word is used – as in taking ownership of our own actions and responsibility for the situation in which we find ourselves. It is counterproductive and a little weak to blame others or even “luck” or “the breaks” for the problems we encounter in life. Just as land, houses, and businesses require not only investment of treasure, but time, attention, and a lot of upkeep so do our lives. They own us as much as we own them and ownership is not just about possession but responsibility as well.

We do not own our spouses, our children, our extended family, nor or friends. By that I mean they are not slaves to do our will, for whether we admit it or not they are free to chose their own paths. We do however own them in the sense that we are responsible to do right by them. I conclude my daily mantra which is my list of intentions, prayers, and wishes with these word, “I make these and all my intentions for the good of the Universe, myself, and all people everywhere. So be it and it is so. Ah man and Ah woman. Amen and Aye Women.”

I think that is pretty responsible ownership of even my intentions, prayers, and wishes. What do you think?
