Perseverance
The third encouraging and inspiring word on the Oak Forest Elementary covered walk way entrance is Perserverance. The dictionary definition of the word is:

About midway through my daily mantra that I recite aloud each morning to greet the new day are these words : “I am patient, I am persistent, but above all I am kind.” Both patience and persistence are synonyms of perseverance. Two New Testament verses come to mind that illustrate the word patience being used in this way: “Run with patience (perseverance) the race that is set before you” and “Tribulation (trials) worketh (bring about) patience (perseverance.)
All those test, Children, teach us not only the specific answers, but even more importantly they teach us to stay at it, to perseverance, to not give up.
Many, most I say, of the goals worth achieving in life require perseverance because the do not come to us right away or without some extended effort and maybe a few setbacks. Even the greatest journey can be accomplished with baby steps if we keep at it.
Perseverance is a great word to remember especially when the going gets tough. Press on till you achieve your goals. Remember the “Can Do” spirit that we all have deep within us.
