Who Are You?

Who Are You?

Often, these days, when I act in anyway out of the norm my wife of almost thirty-five years will ask me, “Who are you?” Those words always remind me of the lyrics of a love song, “If you don’t know me by now, you will never, never know me.”

After thirty-five years, she more than anyone else should know me inside and out. They say you can never ever really know anyone. Perhaps that is true, but contrary to the Superman/Clark Kent mythology, our secret identity cannot so easily be hid behind a pair of dark rimmed eye glasses.

Like Jesus people may say when they get a glimpse of our secret identity that we are a prophet or a wizard, yet our closest companions who know us best will proclaim that we are an anointed king and priest, child of God, the Universe.

Do you know Who and Whose you are? When you figure it out you will begin to see reflected in others and in everything the holy truth – God is One and He, She, We are One.

Toward the end of my daily mantra are these three short but powerful statements:

“I mirror you, I admire you. I adore you.”

Nice disguise!

Your friend and fellow traveler,

David White
