Authorized Permission

No body can hurt you or help you without your permission. Authorized permission is a term used a lot with computer accounts where we are granting someone access and our consent to make changes in our stead. It is like a limited power of attorney in that it gives someone else authority to act on our behalf.

I submit to you that even our higher power has granted us such autonomy that even He/She required this authorize permission to intervene in the affairs of our lives. It is not enough to bemoan our situation (and many of us have gotten pretty good at that) we must ask for help and give our consent for the Universe, God if you will, to act on our behalf.

Having done so does not mean that we do nothing. It is still up to us to continue making baby-steps in the direction that we want our lives to go, but the leaps and bounds and results are now in the hands of one with more capable hands and longer, stronger legs to make strides for us far beyond what we could imagine..

Where do I get this authorized permission slip so can sign it? Not so fast, first we must revoke the current agree we made with ole ego, the only true enemy of our souls. He/she is the false god, the illegitimate authority that we have given permission to meddle in our lives. That previous power of attorney must be revoked and a new one put in its place. The New Testament call to “repent” really just means “turn around”, “change our direction” or “change our authorized permission.” It is really just a reaffirmation of Who and Whose we truly are.

During Bob Dylan’s brief Christian phase he wrote and sang a song, “You’re Gonna Have To Serve Somebody.” We are not meant to serve our beliefs, but for our beliefs to serve us. Some religious folks may think it blasphemy, yet I think it only makes sense to discard any beliefs that are no longer serving us. That goes for authorized permissions too. Who is authorized to act for us ? Are we still happy with that arrangement?
