Be Careful What You Ask For

The title today is a saying that people use to usually describe the trouble that comes with getting what we do not really want, but tell our loving and infinite source (our higher self, the Universe, the God who is all in all) that we do. We are told in one place that all His/Her promises are, “Yes, Yes”, not at all like our earth parents who though they both wish our first word will be mama or daddy respectively teach us like a parrot to say “No, No.”

What are you trying to say, Dave? Just this when we say things to God, we should avoid using the negative when saying what it is we want. Example since our higher power has no use for “no, not, and never” He/She doesn’t even hear them.” When we say, “I do not want it to rain.” The request heard is, “I want it to rain.” The Bible promise is, “Ask whatsoever you will believing and you shall receive it.” Jesus also said, “He causes it to rain on the just and the unjust.” Rain was considered by him to be a blessing.

Usually when we say things like, “I do not want it to rain” we really believe it is going to and it does. We should learn to exercise such faith when we ask for what we really want not just when we are inadvertently asking for what we don’t want.

We should as the old song says, “Accentuate the positive, eliminate the negative, latch on to the affirmative, don’t mess with Mister In-Between.”
