Opinions and Beliefs

We owe it to ourselves, to others, and to the Universe to challenge our own hardest held opinions and beliefs. I think we have an inalienable right to share those opinions and beliefs, but not to force them on others as they too are entitled to come to their own conclusions. And it not just a woman’s but everyone’s prerogative to change their mind, their opinion, or belief, or not, if they choose.

Two examples of strongly held opinions and beliefs came to mind as I took a walk this morning pondering what I might write about today. One is the strongly held opinion and belief of many in Creationism. These folks theorize that God created everything in a relative short time. Opposing this opinion and belief, many others buy into Chaos Theory, that everything is a result of random chance over eons of time.

I have at various times held strongly both of those opinions and beliefs. For some time though I have entertained the view that perhaps our ever expanding Universe is one of creativity and chaos operating at the same time and that it is not so much about good versus evil, but more about love and appreciation of each and all versus self-interest and ego. That is the real struggle that life presents.

Of course that is just my opinion or belief and as I said in the beginning, I think we owe it to ourselves, others, and the Universe to always challenge our own strongly help opinions and beliefs. And I might add that I think we should try to be as tolerant as we can of others as they also struggle to make some sense of things.
