Take A Walk With Me

Someone has said that from a babies’ first steps they are practicing walking away from their parents. Both that first baby step and that step out into the wider world are bitter sweet especially from moms with their sons and dads with their daughters.

A popular song from my youth said, “You’ll Never Walk Alone.” I alluded yesterday to the New Testament verse that talks about a great crowd of witnesses monitoring our walk, our race, through this adventure in time and space. We often feel that we are walking alone, but that is an illusion for not only is there a crowd of unseen witnesses with us but we carry with us the memory of all the loved and thought lost.

This myth of separation is a persistent one especially if we are sad, hurting, or facing death, our own or that of a loved one. Taking a walk, they say, is good for the body, soul, and mind. It is the hope of this encouraging word guy that you will take a walk with me. If your legs have failed you and you no longer stroll, let us go for a roll. If neither of those are an option, picture a path opening up ahead in your mind and two friends enjoying the cool of the morning or evening, walking along together.

Your friend and fellow traveler,

David White
