You’re Beautiful
Today I have another”beautiful “ song for you. This one, made famous by James Blunt, is quite different from yesterday’s made famous by Joe Cocker, yet both share a singular theme – you are (you’re) beautiful.
It is no surprise that so many truly beautiful people do not recognize or realize that they are beautiful. Most of us spend the better part of a lifetime, perhaps several, not knowing Who and Whose we truly are.
I speculate that the way these lives work is much like the plot of the Ben Affleck and Matt Damon comedy Dogma in which God who loves to play ski ball is vacationing on the Jersey Shore when He/She is attacked by demons and spends a few days with amnesia not knowing who He/She is. We are God on vacation and with our memory temporarily wiped, trying to follow the clues to figure out our own super identity.
Fanciful you say? Well, for you Holy Bible fans, here are several overlooked clues that seem to support my theory. First when Moses was told by the burning bush to go to Pharaoh and say, “The Lord God says let my people go” he asks God’s name and is told “I am.” In the Gospels Jesus asks his disciples, “Who do men say that I am?” and Simon Peter in particular “Who do you say that I am? And Peter replies, “You are the Christ the Son of the living God.” Jesus plainly says to his followers later, “As I am, so are you in this world.” My favorite though is a phrase from one of the epistles, “God is all in all.”
See the family resemblance yet? Look a little closer. You’re beautiful!
