The Last Time I Saw Her Face
Today’s song by Gordon Lightfoot is arguably one of the most beautiful love songs ever written. I first heard a cover of it by Glen Campbell over fifty years ago and it has remained one of most hauntingly beautiful songs echoing in my heart and mind ever since.
As tragic as it is to lose a love it is nevertheless wonderful to have the memories survive intact. The Last Time I Saw Her Face is that, a precious memory enshrined. Today we are making memories that will make up the scrapbook that we will carry to our graves and perhaps beyond. Most of us unlike Shirley MacLaine do not recall vividly the details of our past lives, but at the same time we have all met and instantly been attracted to people that we are convinced that we must have met and loved in a previous life perhaps many or all of them
The Apostle Paul is purported to have once written, “Now we see as through a glass darkly, but then we shall know even as we are known.” I take comfort in that thought and the growing belief that if not now, the next time around that I will find you sooner, pay more attention, and love and appreciate deeper how very much you mean to me.
