The Greatest Love Of All

“Everybody’s looking for a hero. I never found anyone to fulfill my need, so I learned to depend on me.” The last phrases that I have added thus far to my daily mantra, ever a work in progress, go:

“I mirror you. I admire you. I worship you.”

In my opinion if we cannot say these things first to ourselves, we are going to have trouble saying them to anyone else. The myth of separation is just that for the Universe, God, is One and we for better or worse are the center and the whole Universe. Much as we may not feel it sometimes, we are holy and we are whole.

I close with a phrase repeated over and over in Whitney Houston’s long song: “The greatest love of all is to love yourself.” Or as William Shakespeare put it: “To thine own self be true and thou canst be false to no man.”
