Something So Right

Why is it so often surprising when things turn out right? I think that we often look for the worst to happen thinking that is perhaps what we deserve. That dark tendency and many if not all of our problems stem from not loving ourselves enough. Today’s song says, “When something goes right, I’m the first to admit it and the last one to know.” Though the syntax of that sentence may be a bit off, I think we know what Paul Simon is getting at.

Many, perhaps most of us are quite expert, like the Chinese, in building high and thick walls to protect ourselves, But those walls only serve to to keep what we most want and need from coming to us at just the right time and in just the right way from our loving and infinite source.

Something so right was always meant to be our default mode and not the rare circumstance. Wrap your inquiring mind and astute detective skills around that one, Sherlock.
