Only Hope
I do not pretend that I can sing today’s song as fine as Miss Mandy Moore does, but I do try my best. Hopefully the piano and the wonderful lyrics help deliver the wonderful message of the song, that our only hope is not in our talent, determination, nor in the fight, but in love.
You are my only hope and I am yours. We can make it together. Ole lying ego would have us believe that it is every man or woman for his or her own self. That is as ridiculous as the expression that is most often used to describe that silly theory, “dog eat dog.” Dogs do not eat one another. They must be horribly mistreated and trained to even fight one another. Human being were not created to eat one another either nor to kill and mistreat one another. If war teaches us anything it is that killing people, harming and hurting them is unnatural and goes against who we are. The young men and women that we send to fight our wars never return the same. Even those fortunate enough to avoid scarring their bodies have scars and wounds deep in their souls and psyches.
War falsely offers us hope for peace, but love is our only hope. In the nineteen sixties, one of the war protest songs, Where Have All The Flowers Gone?, is revealed the true outcome of all of the false aims and claims of war in the lines:
“Where have all the young men gone? Gone to graveyards everyone. When will we ever learn? When will we ever learn?”
I repeat, love not war is our only hope.
