Ocean Front Property

I recall as a boy hearing my daddy say that California was always about sixteen years or so ahead of the rest of the country. Many conservatives who seem to look backwards more than forwards might wish today’s song was literally true, that California had fallen off into the ocean making the western edge of Arizona all ocean front property.

I am far more progressive than that and continue to look forward to the new ideas and innovations coming out of California. I have worked in Wyoming and Colorado and have heard the locals there complain about the invasion of people with new fangled and far less conservative ideas from California.

I suppose progress is not always welcome or any change for that matter. I often recall a particular scripture that says, “I have set before you an open door.” California prides itself on being called The Golden Sate, with the famous bridge in San Francisco called The Golden Gate Bridge. Fifty-four years ago as a nineteen year old soldier on his way to Vietnam I saw the Golden Gate Bridge with my own eyes. There is a reason that our feet are pointed forward and that our eyes are in the front of our head, we are meant to move forward ever forward.

I believe that our best days are still ahead of us.
