No Night So Long
In response to the question, “Where is your brother?” the first son of man replied, “Am I my brother’s keeper?” Later a man who referred to himself most often as the Son of Man answered that question, “Yes, you are.” Jesus said, no greater love hath any man than to lay down his life for his friends.” He went on to say there is a love even greater than that, to lay down one’s life for those who think of themselves as enemies. Jesus knew but one Enemy, ole Satan, the accuser of the brethren. I believe that one enemy of our soul to be Ego the enemy we created for ourselves from ourselves in the garden with God when we decided we wanted a choice.
It is a false choice for Satan/Ego is a false god, a figment of our imagination, but a persistent one, who is the author of that dark night of the soul. And if he/she could even put words in the mouth of the Son of Man on the cross. “Father, why have you forsaken me?” we should take care that the words of our mouths and meditations of our hearts are always acceptable in our sight and consider their origin mindfully.
Satan took Jesus for a long walk in the desert, forty days and forty nights, and there tempted him to doubt Who and Whose he was. That is really all he/she’s got. Our one job as sons of god and sons of men (children if you have a problem with pronouns) is not to die for our brothers, sisters, lovers. It is to live to remind them Who they are and Whose, lest the father of all lies, who is always sowing doubt and distrust succeed in his mission to rob us of our birthright.
The chorus of today’s song says:

You are loved, you are loving, you are altogether lovely for you are Love Personified and we all know who that is. I bow to the divinity in you, holy one – Namaste.
