Night And Day

My father’s generation was called the big band era and radios were filled with Sinatra songs. Though my father was a devout country western fan I know that even he was affected and influenced by the popular songs of the day. When I was a small boy I recall riding in my dad’s red pickup and hearing him sing, “Fairytales can come true, it can happen to you, if you’re young at heart.”

I have noted that more than any other recording artist Frank Sinatra is represented in my karaoke songs. I have purposely tried to represent as many music genres as my limited singing ability allows. Sinatra songs used to be listed as Easy Listening Music for indeed they are. I heard someone say once that Sinatra songs are at least partially responsible for the Baby Boom Generation and I do not doubt it.

Today’s song sets the mood with the unambiguous lyric:

Thank you Frank for providing the mood music for if not the greatest generation at least one of the sexiest generations to come along in a long time. An old joke comes to mind based on a song with a similar theme as today’s, All Night Mary Ann. The joke goes: “All night Mary Ann, who does she think I am, Superman?” Indeed.
