Long Long Time

There are many songs about unrequited love and today’s Linda Ronstadt hit song captures the misery and hopelessness of such a plight quite well. Far sadder than loving and losing is this “living with a memory of a love that never was.”

Why are we so slow to give up when at least a part of us realizes that there is no chance for romance? I suppose that being delegated to “the friend zone” is at least a way to be near the one we wish with all our hearts would someday see us as more.

The title and repeated phrase in this song says it all, “I think I’m gonna love you for a long, long time.”
