I’ve Got You Under My Skin

As promised here is the second “I’ve Got” Frank Sinatra song in as many days. Some people do indeed have away of getting “under our skin”, going right to the heart of us, and becoming really a part of us.” That is what today’s song and with it this blog are all about.

So many love stories begin with couples bickering and irritating one another. I even read one of those “how to win an attractive girl” booklets once that suggested counter-intuitively that insulting a pretty girl is the best way to get under a her skin, get her to notice you, and to rise to the challenge of winning you over. The writer said that pretty girls’ defenses go up immediately with comments about their physical beauty and put them in “no way am I having anything to do with you-mode.” He suggested the best way to distinguish yourself from the crowd of would be suitors is to say something like, “You know you would be quite lovely except for those (insert some body part other than breasts, bottom or legs, for these are pardon the pun, “touchy subjects). This will get her thinking about you. Most likely if she is a confident girl, pretty girls usually are, she will see you as a challenge, aiming to win you over, then dump you like a hot potato. Don’t make it easy for her. We all enjoy the challenge, the chase, that may be at least part of the reason we call ourselves, the human race.
