I Loved You Once In Silence

There is a proverb that says, “Open hate is better than secret love.” Today’s song about the tragic love story between Sir Lancelot and Queen Guinevere might seem to contradict the above proverb, but does it really?

If you recall the story, the Queen rather opening hated Lance in the beginning actually enlisting three other knights to kill him at a jousting match in Camelot. Only after she sees Lance weeping over a slain knight, praying over him, and performing a Jesus like miracle, raising him from the dead, does she realize that behind her very open hatred was an ever growing secret love.

I have watched the 1967 movie and listened to the soundtrack so many times that I have them memorized. If you have never watched Camelot with Richard Harris, Vanessa Redgrave , and Franco Nero as King Arthur, Queen Guinevere, and Sir Lancelot, I encourage you to do so and decide for yourself if open hate is better than secret love.
