Houston

Houston is many things to many people. I have called Houston home for nearing two thirds of my almost seventy-four years. Both of my children were born here and my granddaughter.

I reside in Houston with my lovely and loving wife of thirty- four years, Linda Lee. Dean Martin’s song Houston was a favorite of mine before I first came to the city in January of 1973 from Chattanooga, Tennessee to attend a small Bible College here.

Houston is named for Sam Houston a congressman from Tennessee who went on to be a General at the Battle of San Jacinto and the first President of the Republic of Texas. He also served two terms as a Senator from the State of Texas.

The chorus of today’s song “going back to Houston” has been a smile provoking thought to me often throughout my journey.
