High Hopes
Much was recently made of Republican Robert Kennedy Jr. repurposing a JFK for President campaign commercial from 1960 and playing the 30 minute spot during the Super Bowl. I understand the Kennedy Clan was unhappy with the commercial. My karaoke song today High Hopes was recorded by Frank Sinatra and he was a fan and supporter of Jack Kennedy and so he added his voice to the chorus of Democrats in 1960 who were hopeful that after the oldest President up to that time Dwight David Eisenhower a younger man and a Democrat might offer the nation a more hopeful future. Attached is the Sinatra campaign commercial sung to the tune of his very successful hit song High Hopes.
At least three Democrat Presidents in my lifetime offered a compelling and hopeful message in their appeal for votes. John F. Kennedy, Bill Clinton, and Barack Obama. In my mind hope is always a more positive and promising policy platform that fear, hate, division, and isolationism. Will hope be on the winning ticket this November? Will we show ourselves and the world that we are still a country of High Hopes?
