Hey, Baby

Hey, Baby

Baby is a familiar term of endearment. In the movie Baby Driver the young waitress asks the young man his name to see how many songs she can think of that mention his name and when he says his name is Baby she says, “There are so many songs that feature that name.”

Yesterday’s songs, Hey Good Looking & You’re Beauty, speak to the theme of young men seeing at first glance something that they find quite attractive. Today’s song has a similar theme.

I was in an honors English class my senior year in high school and I recall so very well over fifty years later the teacher’s advice to the boys in her class. She said, “Pick a good mother for your babies.” She offered similar advice to the girls about picking a good dad.

We have a new baby in our family, our granddaughter Emma Grace. She will be seven months old in four days. Her Granny Linda Lee and I still call each other baby. I think we both followed that long ago teacher’s advice to the letter.

What do you think, Baby?
