Have You Ever Seen Rain

As a boy I remember hearing it said that any time it rained while the sun was shining that the devil was beating his wife. Even as a boy I thought that any man who beat his wife must be a devil.

One of my favorite movies An Unfinished Life is about a woman played by Jennifer Lopez who runs away with her young daughter from a boyfriend who beats her. She tells the town sheriff the dirty little secret regulating why women often stay in abusive relationships, they think that they don’t deserve any better. But they are as wrong about that as the men are who think that they have any right to hit a wife or girlfriend.

I love women and I love rain. Inflicting pain is a cowardly, unmanly, demonic act. Today’s song asks the question, “I want to know have you ever seen the rain coming down on a sunny day?”
