Have I Told You Lately

Twenty-two years ago my wife’s best friend Genevieve Louise Riggs passed and at her memorial service her daughter and my wife picked the above picture from her youth to be displayed. They also picked one of Genevieve’s favorite songs by Rod Stewart to be played. Today is my cover of that song. Whenever I sing it or hear it I think of the lovely French girl beloved by all who knew her and the words from another song by Maurice Chevalier come to mind: “Every little breeze seems to whisper Louise.”

You are still missed, Dear Genevieve, and even so many years since you took your leave, you still fill our hearts with gladness and take away all our sadness. That is what you did and what the memory of you still does.
