From The Heart
For a person who for quite a long time now has not considered himself a Christian I still quote the Bible a lot, especially the words attributed to Jesus. But then as a line from the song Hallelujah says, I believe that, “There’s a light in every word, the broken and the holy hallelujah,”
Jesus said, “Out of the heart are the great issues of life.” It is amazing to me how much we major on minors and give so little time, effort, and mind to the important things that really matter, the issues of the heart.
The greatest regrets of life revolve not around material possessions, professions, or politics, but matters of the heart. How is your love life? Do those you love really know how you feel about them? Not so surprisingly death bed messages usually involve telling someone or leaving a love note for them. Why do you suppose that is? Could it be because we just do not say near enough if at all, “I love you.”
The words of a Bobby Vinton song come to mind:
“I’ve loved you, since heaven knows when. There I’ve said it again.”
If you love someone, let them know.
