Days In The Sun
I love rain and where I reside, Houston, Texas, has had almost a week of heavy rains, dark and cloudy days. Days in the sun seem so much brighter and better after a period of dark and stormy days. Today’s song says, “But we must believe as lovers do that days in the sun will come shining through.”
I believe that, but confess that even someone as optimistic as I am has experienced the dark night of the soul. Even Jesus cried out on the cross, “Father, father why have you forsaken me.” Indeed we all have experienced such moments of disappointment and despair when our tears like raindrops fell, when we felt utterly and totally alone and on our own.
Some years ago some words came to me that have become the center piece of my daily mantra:
“I am so glad and grateful that everything that I could ever want or need is already mind and coming to me at just the right time and in just the right way from my loving and infinite source.”
Whether what comes my way be dark and storming nights, cloudy and rainy days, or days in the sun, “I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that he (she) is able to keep that which I have committed unto him (her) against that day.” Or as the song says, that days in the sun will come shining through.
