Country Boy
Glen Campbell like Elvis Presley had his first singing success on the Louisiana Hayride. Though neither were raised on farms and technically not country boys, country music was a big influence in their lives.
I was born and raised a city boy in Chattanooga, Tennessee. I have never been asked to sing on the Louisiana Hayride nor the Grand Ole Opry. I have always sang my songs for free. My parents, both country music fans, told me that as a small boy I used to climb up on a kitchen chair and sing How Far Is Heaven with Kitty Wells on the radio.
I do not claim to be a great singer, but there has always been a song in my heart and I love to sing. In another life I might have sang for my supper or earned my living writing. Neither of those were to be this go round, perhaps next time.
In March it will be nine years that I have been posting this daily blog. In it I have shared what is on my heart and mind, often sharing a song with my readers also. I have even paid for the privilege and would do it again and hope to for as long as I can. After all I am not even a third of the way to my goal of ten thousand blogs.
Your friend, fellow traveler, and sometime country boy troubadour,
