Closer To Fine

My standard reply to anyone who asks, “How are you?” is “Fine and dandy.” The reason that I can say this and mean it is that I do not let the doctors, the mountains, the children, anyone or any one thing define me. A little aside here on the term define. The dictionary definition is:

I think four is the way in which I most often use the word. But as I was thinking about it in the context of my standard reply this morning I think I see the problem with allowing anyone or any one thing outside our highest and best self to define us is that it or they are more likely to side with our one true enemy, Ego, and to make us believe ourselves less fine, to “de-fine” us by taking the wind out of our sails so to speak, and have us seeing only the waves and the storm about us, causing us to lose sight of the sleeping deity in the boat with us.

True peace comes from knowing Who and Whose we are and maintaining an awareness that nothing (No thing) can change that immutable fact. So, yes, I have learned to define myself no matter the situation I find myself in as “Fine and dandy.”

I believe that by our thoughts, words, and deeds we create our own reality. Expecting someone us to do that or be that for us always leave us feeling less than fine. We all have equal access to “the higher mind” and despite the guilt religions, more inspired by Ego than our highest best self, we need not prostrate ourselves, but rather merely to straighten our crowns a bit to feel closer to fine.

Your friend and fellow traveler,

David White

The above is not intended to be the only definitive answer to the great questions of life, just one man’s opinion for whatever that may or may not be worth.
