Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain
Willie Nelson, the Texas treasure, is still with us and all of the wonderful songs that he has sung for us. Among them is today’s song, a haunting love song. In another of Willie’s songs, a famous songs about slow moving cowboys, he talks about loving the girls and leaving them with a sad country song. Blue Eyes Crying In the Rain is one of those songs.
Heaven is to many people different things, but one of the things that people who believe in heaven seem to agree upon is that it is a place where there are no blue eyes crying in the rain, brown, green, gray, or hazel either. Heaven is a place where all tears are dried and there are no more painful partings.
There are so many tearful good-byes here. The longer we remain here the more people we must say a tearful “Adieu” to. Someday we will know more certainly what is like to be the one who is leaving. I like to hope that my departure from this plain of existence will be more like the line in a gospel song, “Some glad morning when this life is o’er, I’ll fly away” than it is blue eyes crying in the rain.
In the last verse of Willie’s song it says, “Someday when we meet up yonder, we’ll stroll hand in hand again, in a land that knows know parting blue eyes crying in the rain.”
I look forward to many happy reunions.
Your friend and fellow traveler,
David White
