Blue Bayou

Today’s song was one of my mama’s favorites. She never found her blue bayou nor realized her life-long dream of seeing the Grand Canyon. I like to think, almost twenty-four years into her next life, that she has already realized both of those dreams and is working on even bigger farther away ones like Paris and Rome.

Except for a few years in the late forties and early fifties when she lived in Detroit mama spent most all of her almost sixty-nine years in Chattanooga. Mama did most of her traveling in books. She shared her adventures around the world that she read about, but never experienced for herself.

The slings and arrows of life would rob us of the joy of living if we let them. It is important to have dreams and goals, something to look forward to and to live for. Linda Ronstadt captures the joy and anticipation of having a destination in mind.

Bon voyage.

Your friend and fellow traveler through time and space,
