All My Ex’s Live In Texas

My beautiful cousin Brenda married a Tennessee farm boy sailor. Ronnie who died a few years ago was not a George Strait fan, but I am. Todays’s song and Amarillo By Morning are among George Strait’s most popular songs and favorites of mine too. One of my very favorite of his songs that I will share later is called Marina Del Rey. It is the story of a brief love affair on a sunny beach while on vacation from Tennessee.

Women often accuse men of not caring enough about relationships, yet I submit to you that most of the romance poetry ever written and most of the love songs ever sung were by men. We crave lasting connection just as much as you ladies.

The man in today’s song some would call a four-time loser, but perhaps he is a four-times winner because he convinced four lovely ladies to marry him. Grant you he does sing, “Some folks think I’m hiding, it’s been rumored that I died, but I’m alive and well in Tennessee.” He misses his beloved Texas and dreams of going back there, but there are four good reasons that he stays away.

The saying goes that “Discretion is the better part of valor.” Sometimes it wiser to avoid a fight than to wage one. When one is out gunned four to one retreat is the wise move as our hero has decided.
